"Journal of Nutritional Medicine" published an article about an interesting experiment testing the usefulness of malic acid (malate) as a potential agent relieving complaints associated with non-specific muscle pains and chronic exhaustion. Either 1200 mg of malate or placebo was administered to patients for 4 weeks. In the malate group significant improvement was observed as early as after 2 days of supplementation whereas the condition of the patients in the placebo group did not improve by the end of the experiment.
The molecules of malic acid are important components of the molecules of creatine malate which recently appeared in the national market as a new diet supplement. In the light of the quoted reports, perhaps it would be worth considering expanding the indications for the use of creatine malate preparations.
