The scientists of Harvard University studied the relation between the consumption of glutamine and the increase in the level of glutathione. Their program included both animal tests and experiments on volunteers.

Under the influence of glutamine supplementation, the level of glutathione rose significantly. However, the increase was varied depending on individual features, the baseline level of glutathione and the current health condition. It rose most significantly, as much as 40%, in individuals with a low baseline level of glutathione and in those suffering from chronic inflammatory conditions. We learn from the final conclusions that, nevertheless, the daily supplementation of glutamine in the dose of 5-15 g on average led to a 20% increase in the level of glutathione in all the studied animals.
